Rhinoplasty

I am 30-year-old woman and want to share my experience of going through rhinoplasty. I was always unhappy with the shape and structure of my nose. I lost my confidence to walk into meeting because of my nose. I researched on the cosmetic procedure called rhinoplasty it is a nose correction surgery. Choosing a surgeon: Rhinoplasty is a surgery that needs to be performed by an expert surgeon. Therefore, it is important to select a surgeon who is well qualified and experienced in this field. Once should also read the online reviews and recommendations by the patients who underwent the surgery.
In my case I visited Dr. Nageshwari, she is a qualified Board Certified Plastic, Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgeon. She has an excellent academic career securing first position in M.B.B.S. & 1st position M.S. General Surgery. She keeps herself updated with the latest techniques. When I went to her she observed my nose and suggested me the appropriated treatment and made me feel comfortable for the surgery. I would recommend her as she did a great job.

What are the expectations?

Before deciding on rhinoplasty, you should be clear with the expectations from the surgery and its results. It will help the surgeon in understanding your expectations and also correct them in case you over expect from it. You should be aware how treatment will be done. There is a lot of information on the internet available on rhinoplasty but it is important to know how to use that information. I used the information to ask right questions to my doctor and she provided answers to my satisfaction. One good thing about Dr. Nageshwari is that she not only answered my queries but also have me the right perspective to understand rhinoplasty. Please note internet is overloaded with information and it is only a qualified doctor who can give you the right information and help you in decision making.

Preparation for surgery:

I was given a list of dos and don’ts prior to the surgery. One needs to start the preparation few weeks before the surgery. This involves avoiding certain medicines, stop taking drugs and alcohol and herbal supplements. Proper instructions should be followed properly as prescribed by the doctor to avoid unnecessary risks. Rhinoplasty is a safe surgery but proper care needs to be taken both prior and post-surgery.

Procedure:

Rhinoplasty is done as an outpatient procedure. You'll get general or local anesthesia. In general anesthesia, the patient sleeps through the operation and in local anesthesia, the area to be treated will be numbed so that the patient is relaxed and experiences no pain. During the operation, surgeon makes cuts within the nostrils. The surgeon then reshapes the inner bone and cartilage to produce a more pleasing appearance. I went to hospital at morning 10, I had to complete the admission procedure. The doctor visited me and made me feel comfortable and she did a normal checkup then I was given local anesthesia and the procedure started. I was just able to feel some movements.

Results:

Immediately after the surgery I was feeling uneasy. My nose was surrounded with the bandages and it was completely numb because of anesthesia. I was prescribed pain killers which I had to take at suggested time during the day. I was asked to take rest and avoid any work which could result in stress on facial muscles.
The bandages were removed 5 days after the procedure was done. There was numbness and swelling which subsided in few days. I can clearly see the change as my nose has a much sharper look and I am really happy with the result.
